Membership in the American College of Pediatricians is open to pediatricians and other healthcare professionals who provide care primarily for infants, children, or adolescents. If you are not a healthcare professional, you can join as a Friend.

An applicant for Fellow in the American College of Pediatricians shall satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Certification in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics or the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics, or any other certification as determined by the Board of Directors.
  2. Evidence of high ethical and professional standing.
  3. Fellows shall have the privilege to vote, serve on committees and hold office.

An applicant for Specialty Fellow in the American College of Pediatricians shall satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Licensed medical doctor or doctor of osteopathy, certified by an American Board in a pediatric subspecialty and devoting 50% or more time to pediatric patients.
  2. Evidence of high ethical and professional standing.
  3. Specialty Fellows shall have the privilege to vote, serve on committees and hold office.

An applicant for Emeritus Fellow in the American College of Pediatricians shall satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Has reached the age of sixty-five (65) or has retired from practice because of illness or other reason acceptable to the Board of Directors, AND
  2. Has held continuous membership with the American College of Pediatricians for five (5) years.
  3. Emeritus Fellows may vote, serve on committees and hold office.
  4.  "NEW APPLICANTS ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THIS MEMBERSHIP CATEGORY."
     
     

An applicant for Retired Physician Fellow in the American College of Pediatricians shall satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Pediatrician who is a new applicant for membership in the College or has been a member for less than five (5) years and has retired from practice because of illness or other reason acceptable to the Board of Directors.
  2. Demonstration of evidence of high ethical and professional standing.
  3. Meets all other criteria for Fellowship in the College.

An applicant for Senior Fellow membership in the College shall satisfy the following
criteria:
     1. Is or has been certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics, the
         American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics, or any other certification as
         determined by the Board of Directors.
     2. Evidence of high ethical and professional standing.
     3. Has reached the age of eighty (80) years old.
     4. Senior Fellows shall have the privilege to vote and serve on committees.

An applicant for Candidate Fellow in the American College of Pediatricians shall satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Completion of a pediatric training program that is approved for credit toward certification from the American Board of Pediatrics or the American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics.
  2. Evidence of high ethical and professional standing.
  3. Candidate Fellows shall not have the privilege to vote or hold office, but may serve on committees.

An applicant for Associate Member in the American College of Pediatricians shall satisfy the following criteria:

  1. A currently licensed non-pediatrician healthcare professional with a significant interest in the care of children and/or adolescents. 
  2. Evidence of high ethical and professional standing.
  3. Associate members shall not have the privilege to vote or hold office, but may serve on committees.

An applicant for Training Fellow in the American College of Pediatricians shall satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Enrollment in a pediatric internship or residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
  2. Evidence of high ethical and professional standing.
  3. Training Fellows shall not have the privilege to vote or hold office, but may serve on commitees.

The College members agree that having you as a member of this organization is so important that our Fellow members have agreed to cover the expense of your membership.

An applicant for Training Associate in the American College of Pediatricians shall satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Enrollment in an internship or residency program of a specialty with an emphasis in the care of children and/or adolescents and approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).
  2. Evidence of high ethical and professional standing.
  3. Training Associate Members shall not have the privilege to vote or hold office, but may serve on committees.
  1. A non-healthcare professional with an interest in promoting the well-being of children and families.
  2. Evidence of high ethical standing within their community.
  3. Friend members shall not have the privilege to vote, or hold office, but may serve on committees.

An applicant for Medical Student Member in the American College of Pediatricians shall satisfy the following criteria:

  1. Student enrolled in a US medical school program (MD/DO) approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or a College of Osteopathic Medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association.
  2. Medical students shall not have the privilege to vote or hold office, but may serve on committees in an ex-officio capacity.

The College members agree that having you as a member of this organization is so important that our Fellow members have agreed to cover the expense of your membership.
